Grandkids are wonderful!

There is absolutely nothing better than waking up in the morning and having a grandchild in the house. Their giggles and sweet voices start the day off in a way that can't be topped. Addy spent the night with us and she woke up in the best mood. That's not always the case but it was today and it was wonderful. It sure did make it hard to go to work though when I'd much rather have stayed home with her.

Payton slept over at Grandma and Grandaddy B's but he came over this afternoon and he and Addy blew bubbles out on our back deck. The bubbles didn't hold their interest long and Payton and his Dad are now out hunting; Payton was so excited when his Dad told him to get his insulated overalls on. He laughed and giggled so much it took him quite a while to get the overalls on. I hope they at least see some deer so Payton can get that same experience that thrills his Dad so much.

I imagine we'll go visit some more over at Grandaddy B's this evening and end up with Addy back over here to spend the night. Payton loves sleeping in Grandma B's bed so he'll probably want to stay over there again.

Both the kids have been so good and it's so hard not to spoil them rotten. Addy just gave her Papaw Nelson 'the look' and talked him into scooting over so she could squeeze herself into the lounge chair with him. She has all the menfolk in the family wrapped around her little finger. I know I'm prejudiced but she is an amazingly beautiful child.

I hope to get Brad to get some photos of me with both the kids, singly and all 3 of us together. Jilly takes such amazing pictures but I'd like to have some myself that I can post here and in other web albums.

Addy is trying to brush Barbie's hair right now and that's not an easy task. She's determined to get it done though and I love watching the concentration on her face.

God Bless You!

Watching 'House'

I love this show; DH does too. Dr. House is amusingly rude and it's hard not to like him even when he's being hateful. Long day at work but got a good bit done. Hope to continue in that vein tomorrow. I am so ready to be done with putting away old files and getting new ones in their correct place. I'm really wanting to get our office organized; I think we'll all be more productive. I know the general area will look better if nothing else.

Laundry overload tonight but finally got it all done. How do 2 adults have so much laundry; that's a question for an expert somewhere. Though it's not quite 8:00 p.m. I am ready to head to bed. Getting old is not for the faint-of-heart.

Brad called last night and he and Payton will be here sometime tomorrow to spend the weekend. I can hardly wait to see them. We always have so much fun with them. It'd be nice if all of them could come but that'd be a lot to handle for a short weekend. Here's a recent pic of Payton:

I really like my new blog background; I'd like to change it up every once in a while just for variety. Wish I had the time to work on creating some myself. Maybe one of these days I'll get to do just that.

God Bless You!

Blog Creativity

Felt like working on my blog background and found a great site, Simply Chic Blog Backgrounds that has some really nice backgrounds. There is no charge for these amazing pieces but they do ask for a link back to their page. Believe me, that's not alot to ask for the quality of these backgrounds. I hope to design my own one day but for now, I like these from this site.

Work is fairly busy right now which makes the days go by fast but I could use more hours in the day to get things accomplished too. I hope to work the rest of the week and Saturday morning on moving old files into boxes so I can get newer files in the correct file drawers. I do NOT like being unorganized so I've gotta get busy. There is a good bit of disorganization in the office and it really keeps me from being as productive as I know I can be. Working around others' quirks and habits can be tough sometimes.

I haven't scrapped in so long that it's really shameful but I just keep running out of time. I get online to check email or some other seemingly easy task and end up sidetracked for hours working on other things. It is so easy to get lost on the WWW. Sure is interesting and fun though.

Here's a recipe that is really good but not for those watching calories or fat grams. My DH LOVES this:

Cream Cheese/Sausage Casserole

1 can crescent rolls * 1-3 oz. block cream cheese, softened * 1 lb. sausage (I use Bryan's brand)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Brown and drain sausage. Immediately mix in the softened cream cheese. Place half the crescent rolls in bottom of 8x8 baking dish (glass is best). Pour sausage mixture on top of rolls and place other half of crescent rolls on top of mixture. It doesn't have to cover completely. Bake according to crescent roll directions, until rolls are lightly browned. Cool about 10 minutes before slicing. These are good hot or room temperature.

I hope you enjoy this recipe; God Bless You!

Weekend to Rest

Work has been busy this week with paperwork for end of '08 and beginning of '09 duties and I am so ready for a weekend. Dealing with a chronic headache since Wednesday that is hopefully simply a sinus infection that will pass soon. Tired of this headache, that's for sure.

Headed uptown in a bit to get hair cut and colored; gotta keep the gray out. I'm looking forward to visiting with Angie and Kelly at Southern Charm Salon. They are alot of fun to be around anytime I've seen them. Here's a pic of the 2 girls taken last year; love these gals!!

I hope to get some scrapbooking done this weekend. I've got more ideas than I'll ever have time to get accomplished so I really need to get busy on putting them into the album.

I also would like to go see Nicole, Brian, Sara K. and Sam this weekend. We haven't seen them since right after Christmas and I know Sam's grown alot since then. Maybe we can go tomorrow afternoon.

God Bless You!

Visit with the grandkids

Oldest DS and his family are visiting this week and we are so enjoying having them here. Especially the grandkids! Sorry Son, but that's just the way it works. When you came along, with my folks it was all about you and now I know why they felt that way. They are actually visiting other family tonight so I'm resting up from the last 2 nights. We had 2 of the 3 spend the last 2 nights with us and we had a blast. But Nana is TIRED! I need tonight to rest up and get to bed at my usual early bedtime.

Got supper in the oven and as soon as it's done, hopefully, I'll be headed for the Land of Nod. There's a vicious virus going around that I am hoping desperately that I haven't picked up. I just don't feel 'right' with no particular symptom at all. Let's hope it stays that way. I'm too busy at work tomorrow to be ill.

Been cruising around my Facebook account and have found or been found by so many that I want to catch up with. Wish I could retire and travel around wherever we'd like to go that day. Wouldn't that be nice?

DH and I have many dreams but one of them is that we could retire and travel around the country. We'd like to be able to help out when and where there's a natural disaster in the States. I'd love to have the time and capital for something like that. Or to donate to causes that are important to us. We are very blessed in our lives and I'm certainly not complaining. It's just fun to dream sometimes.

God Bless You and have a wonderful day!

Aching back...clean house

Got on a cleaning spree Saturday and got a lot of junk out of the way. Still got a ways to go but we did get a lot done. We moved all the furniture back in the living/dining room. It looks so good with the newly painted walls and new floor. DH still lacks getting the crown molding up and we hope to get that done next weekend. He and I both ran out of energy yesterday evening and just had to stop. I worked half a day and then came home and immediately started cleaning and rearranging. There are so many things we'd like to do to the house. DH wants a new living room suite now but that will have to wait. He saw a microsuede set that he really likes; we'll have to put that on our 'wish list'.

Oldest DS and his crew will be here sometime this evening. I'm about to start my beef and gravy in the crock pot. We'll take it over to Mom's when we all get together for our Christmas celebration with them. Gotta remember to take the SLR camera too and hope the photos come out well. I can hardly wait to get my hands on my grandbabies.

Now I'm off to work on photos taken last weekend so I can get them sent out to all the interested parties. It's so nice to be able to do that while still being in the same room with DH. I love my desktop PC but always felt like I was hiding from the rest of the family when in that room working on anything. The laptop lets me be where everyone else is. I am so spoiled with all the technology in this house.

Have a great day and God Bless You :-)

What a day!

First day back at work and it was wild. First day of the month and the year AND the first day back to work after a holiday, whew! The first 10 days of the month are always tough due to closing out the previous month while getting into the beginning of a new one. It seems like everything comes due or needs doing at the same time. Phone rang off the hook all day too; we all stayed busy today and the day just flew by.

DH and I went on our weekly grocery shopping trip tonight to the local, trusty Wal-Mart Super Center. Will we ever get out of there for less than $100? I doubt it; not unless we're running in for only one item and actually end up buying 10 rather than 20 or more.

I bought lots of 'diet' food to get started on my weight loss, get healthy lifestyle. Last year about this time, I started following the Weight Watchers Points plan online. Mom joined the online group and she and I share the site. She tracks her progress on the site and I just use it to get info and motivation. I'm anxious and excited to get started but dreading the hunger pangs that pop up; especially the first few days.

DH got all the floor and most of the baseboards down on our new living/dining room floor. It looks gorgeous and I am so happy with it. He picked up a generic brown rug today to go under the dining room table to help protect the floor. I'm planning on getting a really nice, decorative rug when I find one that I really like. DH and youngest DS got some of the furniture moved back in; we hope to have it all moved in before the oldest DS and his family get here Sunday evening.

We keep a baby gate pulled across the opening to the dining room from the kitchen to keep the dog out of there. She's pretty well-trained but I don't want to take any chances. She's not going to be very happy when the grandkids come in Sunday evening. Kids make her so nervous; she's not used to little people. She'll probably stay locked in our bedroom most of the time they're here.

Rambling on but it really is therapeutic for me to type out what I'm thinking. Everyone should try this even if it's only for you alone to read; I would suggest trying this before spending money on a shrink. That's just my opinion though.

God Bless You

Brand New Year!

For alot of people, today marks the beginning of a new start, another chance to try again, the repetition of the same old promises to ourselves or others. I haven't made resolutions in a long time; it seems they only add pressure when we don't live up to them or we totally forget about them.

I do make a promise to myself at this time: I will take better care of myself by eating healthier and making a more determined effort at exercise. At the very least, I will feel better on a daily basis. I owe myself this as well as owe my family, friends and employers better than what I've been doing lately. Fibromyalgia is enough to deal with by itself; adding to it by eating junk and not taking care of my health just adds to an already challenging situation.

A co-worker and myself have told each other that we are going to lose some weight. I know that we can both do it because we've done it before. My problem is that I lose momentum and then lose my motivation. I let excuses and special occasions drag my eating habits down mentally so that it affects me physically as well. I promise to do better; while I certainly want to lose weight and get into smaller clothes, I desperately need to simply eat healthier choices for the personal wellness aspect of it.

On another note, I do believe it is going to be alot easier to keep up with the blogging now that I have the laptop. It's so easy to sit down in my favorite chair and pick up the laptop and start just chatting away with my fingers.

Brad and all his crew will be here Sunday according to the phone call from him this morning. We'll have our Christmas celebration with them Sunday evening. Hopefully they will be able to be here for several days so that we'll have lots of time to visit. I have to work each of those weekdays so the evening hours are all I'll have to spend with them. I can hardly wait to see the whole group; I really have missed all of them. Especially the 'babies'.

Just chillin' today and getting more familiar with the laptop and Vista. So far Vista hasn't been nearly as bad as I was hearing from everyone. I'm sure I'd feel differently if I couldn't find files I needed for work purposes.

I have loaded some photos onto the laptop today and have edited them. I use Photoshop Elements 5 by Adobe. It is GREAT software and I've not scratched the surface of all it is capable of doing. I'll post one here of Blake, my youngest son who's 24. I've not posted photos on here before so it may take me a bit to get that done.

Everyone have a great New Year's Day and may God Bless You and all those you love.
